In order to comply with the requirements of the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Guberman, Garson, Bush has developed a privacy policy. The policy has been developed following a review and assessment of our current personal information handling practices. This policy is available to the public on request.

The purpose of collecting, using and disclosing personal information at Guberman, Garson, Bush is to facilitate the processing of various immigration matters for which we have been retained.

For files concerning Canadian immigration matters, an applicant signs an Authority to Release Information to Designated Individuals form. This is a requirement of the federal government. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will not communicate with the firm unless such a document is in their files.

With respect to any other matters, applicants sign an Individual’s Consent to Disclosure and/or Use of Personal Information form. At anytime, an applicant is free to withdraw consent by informing the firm of same in writing. All signed consents are kept on record in an applicants file.

Files which hold personal information are retained in our office while the file is active. Once a matter is concluded, the information is stored offsite for a reasonable amount of time.

Communications to and from the firm via email that contains personal information may not be secure, as is the nature of such communication.
